Responsibilities

  • Develop robust Operational Readiness Plan in concert with the Project Execution Plan
  • In collaboration with the Project Director, provide a detailed schedule and estimate for the Operational Readiness Plan with specific focus on lead times, ensuring all resources i.e. people, equipment, machinery and systems are in place to meet operational readiness requirements
  • Generate and track a detailed schedule of all activities directly related to ramp-up of production to ensure successful operational readiness
  • Implement the deployment of standard operational and maintenance management systems, procedures, and tools across the organization
  • Identify gaps from design phase through construction and into operability, proactively recommending and implementing solutions with the senior management team
  • Provide and share best operational practices and carry out internal and external benchmarking to enhance business optimization processes
  • Define alignment of roles and responsibilities within the Operational Readiness team and other stakeholders to ensure effective operational ramp-up
  • Establish and develop an effective communication plan between key stakeholders to ensure efficient change management processes are followed
  • Develop Operating Manuals for all on site facilities through collaboration with project, operating, Maintenance and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) teams
  • Liaise regularly with Operating, Technical, Administrative, Maintenance, and HSEC teams to ensure total alignment on planned processes
  • Assist with quarterly and yearly budget planning and perform regular reconciliation and variance reports
  • Sign off and approval on project deliverables, during the turn-over process, that meet the required quality and specifications for operational use
  • Work collaboratively with the Human Resources department in recruiting, hiring, and training of production and maintenance workforce.
  • Drive a culture of zero harm at the mine and mill site, with an uncompromising commitment to health, safety, and the environment. 
  • Foster an environment where team engagement is paramount to operational excellence

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 yrs. experience as an Operational Readiness Manager within the mining sector or a combination of years including Mine General Manager with start-up experience in North America.
  • P. Eng., PMP
  • Unwavering dedication to protecting health, safety, and the environment
  • Experience with Indigenous and Community engagement
  • Ability to map processes and have experience with process mapping software
  • Project Management. Operations and EPCM experience
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and lead teams to achieve desired goals
  • Ability to coordinate a diverse group of individuals, both internal and external to the company
