Our client, a successful mining explorer and developer, is seeking a versatile Senior Accountant for their underground mine in Red Lake, ON. In this FIFO/rotational role, the Senior Accountant will work closely with other departments and personnel to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in all aspects of accounting. This is an essential role with a solid organization offering the opportunity to contribute to the creation of accounting strategies and goals in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide management with regular financial reports and analyses to assist in decision making and monthly cost reporting and review
- Assist department heads with budget development and management
- Prepare financial forecasts for mine revenue and costs
- Ensure adequate financial controls are in place
- Work closely with Controller to ensure consistency with Corporate financial requirements
- Lead the process of developing Life of Mine financial documents
- Participate in the yearly audit and ensure deadlines are met and reporting is accurate and compliant with industry and company regulations
- Provide guidance and support on OPEX and CAPEX
- Ensure all bills, invoices, accounts are paid in a timely manner
- Budget forecasting reporting controls
- Account Reconciliations
Skills & Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in accounting + CPA designation
- A minimum of 4 years in a similar role within Mining or similar heavy industry
- Experience preparing financial forecasts
- Solid working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS (Great Plains experience is an asset)
- Extensive knowledge of financial reporting, regulations and procedures
- Exceptional communication skills and strong computer knowledge, including accounting software and programs
