Our client, a well-known, multi-asset precious metals producer is recruiting for an experienced Mill Operations Superintendent for their signature gold project in Northern Ontario. Reporting to the Mill Manager, this role will lead the processing plant team and manage all mill activities and resources. 


  • Promote and maintain strict adherence to health, safety, environmental and community relations concerns and regulations.
  • Create, implement, and monitor mill operational plans and schedules.
  • Research and propose new projects for continuous process improvement.
  • Provide guidance in recruitment and coaching to ensure a safe and effective workforce.
  • Participate in the preparation of budgets and monitor costing and performance.
  • Partner with the Metallurgy team to monitor and continuously improve plant performance.
  • Partner with the Maintenance team to ensure the right preventative and corrective maintenance is conducted at the right time and with the least disruption to production.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with other departments to ensure safe production, cost, and other strategic business objectives are met.
  • Active involvement in safe and environmentally sound work policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Provide specific training and development opportunities for supervisory and hourly employees.
  • Counsel and coach subordinates concerning performance, employee relations, safety, environmental compliance, productivity and cost control.

Skills & Experience

  • strong leadership capabilities and the foresight to recognize and overcome any potential challenges.
  • Minimum of 10 years of mill operations experience with 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • A degree in Mining, Metallurgy or relevant tertiary education is an asset.
  • Expertise in gold processing.
  • Solid knowledge of OHS requirements.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a team in a processing environment.
  • Computer proficiency including control room operating systems
  • Strong commitment to safety, health, risk management, and environmental standards.
  • Startup, operational readiness and commissioning experience is considered an asset.
  • Desire to live/work in northern Ontario – 4 days on / 3 days off.
